We were excited…one of my favorite actresses was in town! How can you not like Cameron Diaz!? The 43 year old blond beauty needs no introduction. She starred in many fabulous films, lighting up the screen with her charisma, humor, and those sapphire blues!
(Here my daughter Katie and I, are posing with her new book, "The Longevity Book")
She started her career as a model, which of course is not surprising, being 5’8” and stunningly charming, and started her acting career along Jim Carry in the “Mask”. I fell in love with her charm and sweetness on the big screen while watching “There Is Something About Mary”.
I followed her career and her passionate activism to protect our environment, her effort to make women feel fabulous and empowered by looking at their natural beauty. The two books she wrote,”The Body Book: The Law of Hunger, the Science of Strength, and Other Ways to Love Your Amazing Body” and “The Longevity Book: The Science of Aging, the Biology of Strength, and the Privilege of Time” really hit home for me. I read Cameron say, we should be honored to have the opportunity to age, to get older, as some people never get that chance, I had tears running down my face. Surviving breast cancer was a tough battle, but living with the fear of it coming back, being paranoid about every ache and pain I feel is a whole other story.
(Cameron was kind, sweet, and so patient with my nine year old telling her about how much she loved watching "The Mask" and about her mommy who is "an artist" with only one boob, because..." OMG)
I am excited to finish reading The Longevity Book and sharing my feelings, feedback and revelations.
