“Giving is the highest expression of potency. In the very act of giving, I experience my strength, my wealth, my power. This experience of heightened vitality and potency fills me with joy. I experience myself as overflowing, spending, alive, hence as joyous. Giving is more joyous than receiving, not because it is a deprivation, but because in the act of giving lies the expression of my aliveness.” ~ Erich Fromm

Through out my life I wanted to make those around me happy. It was important to me, and to be completely honest, the motivation was sort of selfish. It made me feel really good. It took a while for me to find my niche, mostly because self doubt, insecurities, and fear stood in the way of my personal growth.

In 2012, “with some help from my friends”, through love, reflection, and finally, finding the courage to free myself of my hangups, I discovered the form of my ultimate expression…painting.

My art made others feel good, empowered, happy, energized, at peace, or encouraged. Each took what they needed from the paintings. The best reward for me was knowing that I was able to touch lives in a positive way. I will not get into many details, as I don't want to be redundant. You can read my story here, in a comic book form, but what I want to say is, when tragedy occurred in my life, I was overwhelmed with emotion when dear friends and strangers bound together to help me and my family in any way they could.

It is important for me to give back in any way we can. Since the company got started, we have donated scarves to women who have or are fighting the battle with breast cancer, and organizations supporting breast cancer research. Mila & Such is determined to grow, so that one day we can give thousands of free scarves to women all over the world, wrapping them in joy, hope, and positive energy that is infused in my artwork.

In addition to our donation to breast cancer survivors and fighters, we are beginning a new initiative by offering support to the following organizations. 10% of our monthly sales will go to:

I appreciate you taking the time and reading this page. I appreciate all those humans who have a heart of gold, and try to make a difference (making someone smile, is making a difference) in this world. Small steps in the right direction create a road wide enough for others to follow. Someone has to be the one to take the first step. Lets do it together, because together we can do anything.
